Expansive God, my small horizon is dominated by roofs and windows, my soundscape is bordered by commuter trains and street traffic. A few trees stretch above the homes and, from the right vantage point, the telltale skyscrapers can be seen keeping watch over the city. I am comforted by proximity, and I give thanks for neighbors (known and unknown), for their dogs and their cars and their music all reporting life to my ears. I rejoice for the birds and squirrels and stray cats and even deer making their homes among so many people. You too, O God, dwell close within this busy space; let me not lose sight of you in the crowd of buildings. Ever draw my eyes and my spirit beyond the city to the yawning horizons of a wider world.

- Lent Prayer Prompt – Day 4 » Martha Street: Your Global Front Porch - […] Pray for your surroundings today — from horizon to horizon. (My prayer is posted on my blog.) […]
Skies that are open,
or mistily embrace the
earth create new frames.
Handcrafting God, smudge new colours of kindness on the canvas of our lives.
Knit the strands of our hurts together until we create the fabric of care for all the earth.
Amen and amen!
