A prayer of the man who once was blind:
Strengthen me, Jesus,
in this moment of stillness
knee-deep in healing waters.
Say a prayer for me, Jesus,
as I go back out into the world
to live in this complicated life.
Comfort me, please Jesus,
when they say that I cannot be
who I am or how I am or all that I am.
Encourage me, blessed Jesus,
to claim what no one else will affirm,
and to love this life and flesh always!
