Who is like my Beloved?
Who else can tease my lips into a smile
with just a glimmer of sunlight,
a sudden wisp of gentle breeze,
a hint of the spring’s early blooms?
Who else can love me into courage
by regaling me with stories of life?
Who else can invite me to rest
with the lilt of the Pleiades’ lullaby?
When I rise in the morning, Sweet One,
I would kiss you with joy if I could;
instead I throw my arms wide and
pray you receive this embrace
as I breathe in your goodness.
My Delight! My Thrill!
My Beloved!
My Life!
Oh Rachel, how I needed this one today! Bless you!!!
The Spirit is good!
Amen!
“You have granted me life and
steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.”
Job 10:12 NRSV
Lord,
Today you came to me while I was listening to a pod cast:
Krista Tippett interviewing Fr. Greg Boyle
I scribbled down phrases as I drove
listening to each story with wonder and awe.
He spoke about our common call to delight in one another,
to see Jesus standing in the lowly places and join him there.
He used prophetic and hilarious in the same sentence,
talked about a great wild God,
a God who calls us to be as spacious as we can be
to take giant steps away from judgement
and to always always love.
You are the God of the living
Amen.

I’m so glad you shared these snippets from the interview. Thank you!
Thank you for posting the link to the podcast. What a wonderful and thought provoking interview.
For the hands-on practicality of the potter:
thanks be to God.
For the heart-warming skills of the fire-builder:
thanks be to God.
For the hunger satisfying work of the cheese-maker (and the smile of association from Monty Python!):
thanks be to God.
For the timely, careful crafting of the knitter:
thanks be to God.
For all the joys and sorrows that we are created from:
thanks be to God.
Thanks be to God!
In the palm of Your hand
my life is held
through quiet days of “autumn”
bitter winds of “winter”
warming touches of “spring”
carefree breeze of “summer”
No matter the season
You have been my God
Your steadfast love
colours the pages
of my life
Such good news that God loves us through all seasons!
“Remember that you fashioned me like clay; and will you
turn me into ashes again? Did you not pour me out like milk and
curdle me like cheese? You clothed me with skin and flesh, and knit me
together with bones and sinews. You have granted me life and
steadfast love, and your care has preserved my spirit.”
If you could join me today for a glass of wine and a bit of cheese, my God,
I would thank you, yet again, for the chance to enjoy your presence in my life….. this day and everyday … for Your gift of this life, for Your many blessings, for Your gift of each breath.
Even as I struggle to focus
Even as I hurt from gazing deeply into the giant hole that in is my soul
after returning my first born to the dust, from where we have all come
and to which we will also all go again
Then I could ask for one more favor, one more gift
That Your love lead to a place where I could begin to heal my grief and dry these tears.
And I say thank you once again!!
Amen
Moving. Thank you for sharing your prayer, Billie.
Thank you for caring and listening. I so appreciate this exercise even if something is not put to paper everyday.
