Begotten

As the day wanes and the moon itself tires,
hear God’s whisper of love unceasing:
You, my dear, are begotten,
knit of holy breath
and of hallowed dust,
as delighted in as the stars,
adopted as a sister to the trees
as a brother to the streams,
and ever a reflection
of my heart.
